The Harpenden Youth Music Project was founded to create opportunities for young musicians in and around Harpenden to play, progress and perform in a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our main activities at the moment are our weekly wind bands that run on Saturday mornings in term time - the Harpenden Youth and Children's Concert Bands. Future plans include a series of masterclasses from some of the amazing professional musicians who live around Harpenden.
Our directors, Kathryn Wood and Jonny Watkins, are both from Harpenden themselves so you might already know them! They teach music locally and are directors of the National Youth and Children's Concert Bands too. You can find out more about them on the Directors page.
